Raising Capable Teens

5 Capability Shifts That Changed My Homeschool

Capability Shift 4 of 5

The Learning I Almost Missed

You are almost at the end of this series, and today's Capability Shift is one that's become incredibly important to me.

As a former teacher, I naturally focused on lessons, completed work, and academic progress.

But over time, I realised I was measuring only part of my daughter's education.

Some of the biggest growth was happening outside our planned lessons.

I saw it while she volunteered at the animal shelter.

While caring for our cats.

While baking.

While learning Spanish.

While solving everyday problems without my help.

Those moments weren't distractions from learning.

They were learning.

As you watch today's video, I'd love you to notice how many opportunities already exist in your everyday life to help your teen become more capable.

You may discover you're already doing far more than you realise.

💛 Press play whenever you're ready.

Think about one recent moment when your teen learned something valuable outside a formal lesson.

What capability were they developing?

Real life gives us some of the best opportunities to build capability.
